Child centered play therapy is a very helpful and trauma-informed approach to help children process big feelings. Children who as young as 3 years old can benefit from play therapy. I begin seeing children at 4 years of age. It helps create a safe space for children to communicate and process emotions they may not have the words for.

Postpartum depression and anxiety can begin right after birth, but typical signs appear 2 weeks after birth to a few months. If you notice you are feeling “off”, wanting to isolate yourself more, having lower self-esteem than usual, racing thoughts and worries, or having scary thoughts that all may be impacting your daily activities, talking to a counselor could be helpful.

NICU counseling and birth trauma counseling can help moms overcome traumatic birth experiences. Even if you and baby are healthy, you can still feel “stuck” in that moment and replaying sounds or moments in your head. EMDR for birth trauma and counseling for NICU parents can be beneficial to process these difficult moments, helping them feel less emotionally distressing and you can begin to feel “normal” again.
