At Hall of Fame Counseling, I work with you to meet your needs and establish a collaborative approach. I can work alongside additional providers you have to provide holistic care and ensure you are receiving the best support possible. Our initial intake session will be getting to know each other and building rapport. I provide free 15 minute consultation calls so you can ensure you feel safe and comfortable before our first session together. At our first session, we determine what your therapy goals are and develop a treatment plan so we can provide the best care and support possible. All individual sessions are conducted via telehealth at this time, so there is no concern for leaving your cozy couch!

Our counseling skills groups provide clients with more continued care. To determine if a skills group will be beneficial for you, there might be a screening to help determine best fit. Then for the next eight weeks, we meet in a group setting with other clients experiencing similar situations so you are surrounded by a strong support circle. The best part is meeting is 100% online and you won’t have to leave the comfort of your home!

Scheduling is super easy! Click on the “schedule appointment tab” to get started! :)

Postpartum Depression

About 1:7 women will experience postpartum depression within their first year of giving birth. You might have excessive worry and crying, isolation, and feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. All of these feelings mixed with lack of sleep and hormone changes can make you feel not yourself. You don’t have to experience this alone. Being certified in perinatal mental health, I can help answer all the questions you have regarding postpartum and guide you towards healing. Our maternal wellness skills groups offers not only support from other moms experiencing similar feelings, but education to better understand and cope with postpartum depression.

Specialties

Postpartum Anxiety

You may be wandering what is the difference between postpartum depression and anxiety. One thing to know is that many moms experience this not only after delivery, but they can also experience these symptoms while they are pregnant. Unwanted intrusive thoughts, excessive worry and fear, rage and sadness are all signs of postpartum anxiety. Knowing what to look out for is the first step and here at Hall of Fame Counseling, you’ll have the support you need to help you!

Play Therapy and Sand Tray

Children communicate through play while adults communicate through talking. A child-centered play therapy approach is so helpful in allowing a child to express themselves in a safe and comfortable way. Children who enter the play room or play in the sand tray have the freedom to express themselves and process what they need in a therapeutic and healing way. The playroom and sand tray provide children expressive outlets to heal. Play therapy and sand tray can be used for kids starting as young as age 3! It helps them create a world for healing. This type of therapy can be utilized for children struggling with emotional regulation, trauma, managing big feelings, and more.

Grief and Loss

Experiencing a loss can be one of the hardest moments in your life. Whether you have lost a friend or family member, pet, home, job, or lifestyle, grief can show up in many different ways for everyone. It is important to understand everyone grieves differently and that is okay! It may take you longer than you would like, and that is okay too. Grief has no timeline. Sometimes it helps to talk to someone who can provide supportive listening and a safe, nonjudgmental space to allow that grieving process to happen.

NICU and Birth Trauma

Having a child in the NICU can be scary and heartbreaking. Parents who experience a traumatic birth experience or have a baby in the NICU are more likely to experience postpartum depression and anxiety. Your experience giving birth was unique and special, and you don’t have to worry and fear alone. Having a husband work in the NICU and working on the unit myself, I see you and what you go through, and it is not easy. I am here for you to help you through your NICU journey and path towards healing mentally and emotionally.

General Anxiety/Depression

As you navigate life, you might develop worries and fears. While this is normal, you might start to notice it impacts your daily functioning. You might have “what if” thoughts and fears that don’t go away. Or maybe you want to lay in bed all day and do nothing, hoping the sadness will drift away. You are not alone as you navigate these emotions and thoughts, and I can work with you to develop coping skills to help manage these emotions as you continue your daily activities.

Perinatal Loss

For all the moms out there who have experienced a miscarriage, stillbirth, or neonatal death, I see you. Losing a child is painful and you are always wondering what went wrong or what you could have done better. You might be feeling helpless and hopeless wondering what you’re next steps are going to be. You do not have to be alone while you navigate this type of grief.

Trauma/EMDR Therapy

Trauma looks different for everyone. Some experience what is called a “big T trauma” and that is what everyone typically thinks of when we say the word trauma. But sometimes what you experience in your everyday life can be considered traumatic for you as well. Maybe you experienced something difficult in your childhood that you haven’t fully processed, or maybe it was something that recently happened at work. Trauma impacts the brain affecting the brain chemistry and how it is wired, leaving you to feel emotionally vulnerable. With EMDR therapy (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) and specialized training, you can access those traumatic memories and process them in different ways so they are not as disturbing for you anymore.

Mental Sports Performance

As a former college athlete, I understand how 98% of a performance can be mental. You can train all day everyday, but the game day pressure or crowd hits you differently than at practice and suddenly you forgot everything you practiced. Athletes not only need to train physically but mentally as well. Together, we can work on mental exercises and techniques to help improve your game day performance.
